Safford Unified School District is providing Free Loaner Chromebooks for students enrolled in SUSD grades 2nd-12th. Chromebooks will remain at home, even over the summer, as long as the student is actively enrolled at SUSD. First and Second Grade Students:
As much as I hate to say it, our first and second-grade students will still be displaced during the 2022-2023 school year.
Our first-grade students will still be housed at Lafe Nelson School and our second-grade students will still be housed at Ruth Powell School.
The good news is, that the new Dorothy Stinson School should be ready for school to begin during the 2023-2024 school year. One more year of being displaced and then we will all be on the same campus.
Dorothy Stinson School time. Our first bell will ring at 7:55 am and our tardy bell will ring at 8:00 am. Classes will start at 8:00 am. Classes will be released at 2:00 pm. Early release times will be every Friday at 12:20, except for Friday, August 5th which will be a full day of school. The day before Thanksgiving, the day before Christmas Break and the last day of school will be 12:20 as well.
Supply lists can be found on the DSS PTO Facebook page and also through this LINK. There are some changes to this year's lists, so please make sure you have a chance to look through the lists. Please feel free to help your child's class with whatever supplies you would like to provide. Remember, Dorothy Stinson will always supply the necessary school items students need to succeed in school. The school will provide pencils, crayons, paper, construction paper, and other necessary supplies. What parents can help with are the extras like boxes of Kleenex, disinfectant wipes, and other items along with these products.
Update on School Construction:
I am pleased to be able to let parents know that progress is being made when it comes to Dorothy Stinson School. If you have driven by the school, you will see the progress that is being made on the new schools. The sidings and the roof are coming along. In my last conversation with the construction company, we are on schedule for the completion date.
